Phase 3: Analyze Data
Phase 3: Analyze Data will provide guidelines and techniques for data analysis (the attempt to summarize and represent the data collected) and data interpretation (the attempt to find meaning in those data to address the hypothesis or research question), which are both needed to take action in SchYPAR. Questions guiding phase 3 include: What are the significant trends or themes that the data shows? Phase 3 breaks down data analysis and interpretation by quantitative and qualitative research, given that both have different data analysis techniques. Data analysis for quantitative research, particularly for surveys, relies on coding to assess the hypothesis's accuracy or inaccuracy in predicting the outcome. Data analysis techniques for qualitative research rely greatly on identifying themes and patterns in the data to answer the research question in ways that explain how people make meaning. The last element of Phase 3 is to pause and reflect on the project's goals before moving on to Phase 4: Take Action.
