Doing SchYPAR

SchYPAR is dedicated to providing a comprehensive library of resources that simplify the implementation of YPAR in schools, whether as an instructional strategy, elective courses, or extracurricular activities. To guide you in doing YPAR in schools, you can choose a more comprehensive YPAR guide or a subject-based YPAR guide. Scroll down to choose!

SchYPAR Resources

  • YPAR Guide

The YPAR guide includes mixed-method research approaches and is a comprehensive sequence of steps and sessions with specific lesson plans and PowerPoint that can be adapted and modified to fit school/classroom schedules and needs.

  • Subject-Based YPAR Guides

The subject-based YPAR Guides (also known as “Standard Crosswalks”) incorporates subject-based standards for high school subjects in alignment with the YPAR goals. The high school subject-based standards are sourced from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and national subject-based standards.

Hear from a Math Teacher Doing YPAR in Schools

Karmel Abutaleb, a Secondary/College Math & Computer Science teacher at Facing History New Tech High School shares her YPAR experience. She has taught YPAR for two years in her math classes. In the video, she is interviewed by Maggie Rahill, an English teacher at John Marshall School of Engineering. Maggie is new to YPAR and will be teaching YPAR for the first time this 2023-2024 school year. She has many important questions for Karmel, asking: What would you tell a teacher thinking about implementing YPAR in their classroom? Tell me about a recent YPAR lesson. How do you integrate YPAR into the subject-based standards that you have to teach? How do you make YPAR fit with all the things that you have to do? How has YPAR influenced you and your approach to teaching?
